Why this part gets replaced
A charger gets replaced when the machine no longer charges, charges only at one cable angle, or the brick gets abnormally hot. Before buying one, check the port on the laptop: if the jack wobbles or the plug sits loose, the fault is the port on the board, not the adapter, and a new charger will not fix it.
Making sure it is the right one
Read the output line printed on the brick, for example 19.5V 3.33A, and match BOTH the voltage and the tip. Amperage may be equal or higher, never lower. The wrong tip diameter is the single most common mistake, and the wrong voltage will damage the board.
What fitting it involves
Nothing to fit. Plug it in. If the machine still will not charge with a known good adapter, the next suspects are the DC jack, the charging circuit, or the battery itself.
