Half the “dead GPU” symptoms people describe turn out to be something cheaper — a failing power supply that can’t hold up under load, a bad PCIe power cable, a driver conflict, or a card that has simply choked itself with dust. Those cost very little to put right. A genuinely failed GPU costs a great deal more. Knowing which one you have before you buy anything is the whole point of the diagnostic.
When the card is the problem, plenty of failures are fixable: seized or rattling fans, dried-out thermal paste and pads cooking the core, and dust-clogged heatsinks that cause thermal shutdowns. We handle those. Failures at the GPU die or memory level are a different story — see below, because we won’t pretend otherwise.

Coloured squares, torn textures, flickering geometry. Often overheating VRAM — sometimes terminal, sometimes just thermals. We test to find out which.
Nothing on screen. We check the cable, the monitor, the slot and the power supply before we condemn the card.
Thermal shutdowns and performance that collapses after ten minutes. Usually old thermal paste, dead pads or a heatsink packed with dust.
Seized, rattling or screaming fans. Replaceable on most cards and far cheaper than a new GPU.
Crashes only under load, or the PC restarting mid-game. This is the power supply at least as often as it is the card.
Full teardown, clean, fresh paste and pads. The cheapest way to get performance back out of a card that’s been running hot for years.
Being straight about the limits saves you a trip and saves us both time.
If the GPU core or the memory chips themselves have failed, that is not an economic repair. We’ll tell you plainly and price up a replacement instead of charging you to chase it.
On an older card the repair can cost more than a better used card. When that’s the case we show you both numbers and let you choose.
A graphics card can only be properly tested under load in a system. Bringing just the card limits what we can prove — and the power supply is a prime suspect we can’t check without it.
